I have had many conversations with economics journal editors. Some people think I never have anything good to say about editors. Here is an example where the editor showed me respect by being honest.
Ken Judd to an Editor: “Any coeditor can do anything they want, and abuse their power in any way, and all of the rest of you will just silently stand by like the cowards you are.”
Editor’s response: “You are right”.
